After filing your Grievance Application, form RP-524, you are responsible for contacting the Assessor on the progress. Should the Assessor, or the Assessment Board of Review, deny your Grievance Application, you have the Right to Appeal. No attorney is required. This Appeal is a simplified Appeal process known as SCAR (Small Claims Assessment Review). There is a $30 SCAR fee that you must pay to the county. The filing of the Appeal has strict time guidelines (usually within 30 days of the Assessor’s denial).
The SCAR process requires you to submit a SCAR Appeal, which you access and create through this site. After creating the SCAR appeal save as a pdf and then use when you submit the Appeal to the County and related Agencies.
